Which Workout is Right For Me?
Trying to find the right workout? Where do I go? What do I do? Once I made the decision to improve my health it took about five months and a gym membership before I found a program I was happy with, and a company that supplied products that I felt I could trust.
Due to a random post on my wifes facebook wall I found out about Insanity by Shaun T and Beachbody. The great thing about Beachbody Products is they have all types of excercise programs and a lot of tools to help you be successful. Throughout my blogs I will start touching on different workout programs and different tools Beachbody and Chrisman Fitness have available. Please watch the attached video to learn more about some of the products and by all means ask me any questions you may have.
I honestly from the bottom of my heart want each and everyone of you to be healthy. If I can do it anyone can. I'm not where I need to be yet but I am getting there by leaps and bounds thanks to the good Lord and Beachbody.

How Often Should I eat
Most peoples knee jerk reaction to wanting to loose weight is to cut back how much and how often they eat. How much is very important but equally as important is how often.
I tried to loose weight once by cutting back to only one meal a day. I was able to cut back, but I stayed hungry all the time. It took an extremely long time to loose a small amount of weight and I was loosing a lot of energy. I thought that psychologically this would be easier on me. I thought if I ate one meal, and ate what I wanted and how much I wanted I could convince myself that starving myself all day long was worth the pain and agony. My problem is that I love to eat, I love tasting good food, and if its considered unhealthy I probably love it even more. It just seems to work out that way. Hind sight is 20/20 and looking back this was definitely the worst route I could have taken.
I would suggest to you that eating frequently is much more beneficial in weight loss and psychologically. I’ve personally experienced the best results in weight loss by increasing the number of times I eat daily. Eat three meals and eat two snacks daily. For example eat breakfast, then a snack, then lunch, then a snack and finally dinner. If the typical person sleeps 8 hours a day, then yes that means you will be eating every 3-4 hours while your awake. You still need to keep your portions reasonable, in fact smaller than what you would normally eat, and drinks lots of water.
Eating five times a day will:
1. Increase your metabolism, When your eating and your body knows its eating and receiving the nutrients it needs then it doesn’t feel as though it needs to store food when it gets it. The key here is to eat very nutritious and healthy foods. Eating five meals a day of junk food will not do you any good.
2. Decrease your overall hunger. Since your eating every 3-4 hours about the time you really begin to get hunger cravings it will be time to eat. If you know you have a meal or snack coming up it decreases the temptation to grab what’s available, or drive thru the nearest fast food chain.
The key to successfully eat five times a day for me was to plan my meals as much in advance as I could. If you start the day thinking you will eat five times, and then when its time to eat you don’t have anything available you will be tempted to grab whatever is most convenient. I try to keep a lot of healthy snacks available, mainly fruit, I have eaten more apples in the past few months than I’ve eaten my entire life.
Portion control is very important. Americans have a reputation of overeating and our portions at home or in public have become 2-3 times the normal size. Just to put things in perspective a single portion of meat should be about the size of a deck of cards.
In summary. Eat three meals a day with two snacks about 3-4 hours apart. Pick nutritious foods and watch your portions. A great way to ensure your body is getting the nutrition it needs on a daily basis is to substitute a meal replacement shake for one of your meals. There is no higher quality meal replacement shake than Shakeology. Watch what several Doctors have to say about Shakeology. Or click on my Shakeology link for more information.

Don't Diet Just change Your Eating Habits
“Childhood obesity rates have
tripled in the past three decades,
and the excess weight kids are
carrying these days has
increased the risk of developing
diabetes, heart disease, high
blood pressure, cancer, and
asthma.”
—Michelle Obama
“You can trace every
sickness, every disease,
and every ailment to a
mineral deficiency.”
— Two-time Nobel Prize Winner
Dr. Linus Pauling
In our quest to loose weight one of the most important steps is to change your diet. I once asked an old high school classmate of mine, what was his secret because he had went from an average slightly overweight teenager to a competing body builder. He told me his biggest change wasn’t what he does in the gym but what he does out of the gym.
In order to be healthy, to loose weight, and to have that “energy” that so many people seem to be lacking is to change your eating habits. In a perfect world we could grow everything in our back yard and pluck it right off the vine and experience the maximum nutrient value of everything we eat. Unfortunatly this just isn’t possible or practical. So we need to change our shopping habits. Stop buying processed food, stop eating fast food, and buy food that is in the outer aisles of the super market, more fruits, vegetables, and meats instead of cereals, poptarts, and honeybuns (my personal favorite). And yes of course you need to cut back on the sodas, whether its diet or regular and drink more water. To ease my transition from soda to water I used a lot of flavor packets that you just mix in with your water. That way I at least got a little flavor. Depending on how bad your soda habit is don't just stop cold turkey try scaling back in stages.
Another nuisance is the dreaded hunger we all face when starting a new way of eating. If your pursuing some sort of fitness program, and I truly hope you are, you will need to make sure your fueling your muscles and not just starving yourself. If you cut back to much you could cause yourself to loose fat and muscle. However if you can loose fat, and encourage muscle growth, the muscle will help your body rid itself of the fat and keep it off. Workouts from Chrisman Fitness encourage this. I have workouts for all types of fitness levels and desired goals.
In order to help you with your nutritional goals Chrisman Fitness has a product called Shakeology.

Insanity Week 2 Review
Insanity has got to be the most intense workout Ive ever done. This includes any sport I played in High School or Military Bootcamp. The reason I chose insanity is that you don't need any weights, resistance bands or pull up bars. All you need is you, a dvd player and small space.
Week one left me sore especially my lower body. There is a lot of jumping, kicking, squats, and stretching. Each workout leaves you drenched with sweat and exhausted however you feel great that youve accomplished something. Even though I'm only in my second week I can already see some results. I can see some slight definition and some areas are starting to slim down.
The program suggests seeing a doctor before you start. If you have bad knees, back or ankles this may not be for you. However I do believe almost anyone can do this regardless of your fitness level. The beautiful thing is that you go at your own pace so if you constantly push yourself to do the most that YOU can do then you will have an awesome experience. For some the most that YOU can do may be less than what their doing on the dvd and some may be able to do more but I do believe anyone at any fitness level can have some positive results from Insanity.
Please feel free to watch the intro video below then you can click on the insanity link on my page to purchase it if your interested.
